Crisis Communication and Social Media Guide

This new resource is the second in a series from the Network designed to equip PR and communications professionals with knowledge, strategies, and insights needed to prepare for, mitigate, and manage organisational crises across digital platforms.

Built around the five-stage model of a crisis, the guide combines real life case studies with expert contributions including chapters from:

  • Philippe Borremans on using AI-powered predictive analytics to monitor and mitigate risk.
  • Paul Quigley covering the three steps to effectively use technology to understand or predict a crisis.
  • Shayoni Lynn on disinformation and how it differs from misinformation.

Drafting a Crisis Comms Plan: Skills Guide

This skills guide covers eight steps to writing a crisis communications plan, some general dos and don’ts, and concludes with a useful checklist for use in a crisis. It also includes recommendations for further reading plus links to the excellent CIPR Crisis Communications training and qualifications that are available.

It was written by Network committee members – Chris Tucker, Katherine Sykes, Rod Cartwright, Sara Naylor, Adelaide Arthur, Felix Ostman and Destiny Hollern – using their own extensive experience in the field. It is designed to help our members and the wider PR community upskill in crisis communications.
